Loch Ness Lodge Wedding

My first wedding of 2010 was at Loch Ness Lodge near Inverness on the 16th of February.  Alexis Paisley and Ashley Weller chose this amazing venue for their wedding on the banks of Loch Ness, and must have been delighted to wake up on the morning of the wedding to see a heavy snowfall overnight had transformed the place!

Unfortunately the snow thawed by 2.30 and turned the area into a wet, slushy mess, which limited our photo opportunities, but fair play to the pair of them for braving the cold on more than one occasion to get some wintry shots!.

Here are some of Alexis and Ashley’s thoughts on the wedding:

What was your favourite moment of the day?

The moment I woke up and drew back the curtains to find it was snowing. It was unexpected and made the whole experience that bit more magical.

What advice would you give to other brides planning their wedding?

1        Choose your venue first, even before the date. The majority of my choices for my day followed much more easily once I knew where it was all going to happen, from table presents to entertainment choices. When choosing the venue ensure you KNOW the manager/owner of the venue has a very good idea about what YOU want for the day. Different people can interpret what you say in very different ways.

2        If you go for a small intimate wedding make sure the family you invite are your good friends too!

Was there anything you’d have done differently?

I wouldn’t change a thing. I was promised relaxed, intimate and elegant. Scott and Iona at the Loch Ness Lodge did not fail to deliver. I and my guests received five star service throughout our stay. We all loved the experience

Ocean Colour Scene

I was absolutely delighted to get a chance to photograph one of my all time favourite bands at the weekend, as Ocean Colour Scene came all the way up to Wick for a gig at the Assembly Rooms. This was the fourth time I’d seen them, but first time photographing them. Well done to Ryan Cook of Rypeco Promotion for getting them up here. Support band were The Moons, who were very good as well. OCS played all their classic hits as well some great new stuff.

Wedding Fayres

I’ve had a couple of great wedding fayres recently, one locally at the Weigh Inn Hotel and on Sunday I was at Eden Court Inverness for the Inverness Wedding Show. Both were very well attended, with the Inverness one being extremely busy, which saw me run out of materials by lunchtime! Next up is the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on the 21st of February. See you there!
