FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

· How many weddings have you done?
I’ve shot over 600 weddings and have encountered just about everything possible so have great experience. There are many photographers who are using weddings to practice their photography. I will help you through the day due to my experience of being at so many weddings. Experience is everything.

·    What if we don’t like having our photograph taken?
I regularly meet people who hate having their photograph taken, myself being one of them! One reason people hate having their photograph taken is because they have never been photographed by someone who knows how to make them look their best. If someone is camera-shy, my style is ideal as I don’t spend much time on posing formally, preferring to shoot most of the day in a natural way. I will direct rather than pose you, and that way, even the posed images will look ‘natural’. A pre-wedding shoot is an excellent way to get a feel for how I work and build up your confidence.

·    Will we know you are there?
Yes. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you different. The secret is to be discreet and capture moments without making it too obvious. I will be unobtrusive and shoot a lot of reportage images so I will not be in people’s faces all the time. I also prefer not to use flash so that will not be a distraction. You will hopefully forget I am there within minutes of me starting.

·    How long do you take for formal photographs?
It really depends on you, and the timings on the day. If you want a lot of the wow images you will need to allow time for them, but ideally I ask for 30 minutes with bride and groom as a maximum. I then need another 20-30 minutes for the group pictures, which I like to keep to a maximum of around 10-12 groups. Again this is something we discuss in advance. I am not the photographer who will take you away from your guests for hours on end!

·    How long do you stay on the day?
We offer different types of coverage. We will usually shoot from brides preparations through to the first 3-4 dances in our most popular package. That can however be reduced to stop before you sit for dinner if you do not want the speeches and first dance covered.

·    How many photographs do you take?
This is a question I get asked a lot. Any fool can buy a camera and go to a wedding and take two thousand or more images in the hope of getting one hundred decent ones. On a typical ten hour day I will take around 800-1200 pictures as a guide. My target then is to give you around 400-500 to choose from once edited. Quality not quantity is the key here!

·    Is it you who takes the photographs?
Yes. I am the only photographer, although on some occasions I may have an assistant shooting some behind the scenes pictures. I know there are a few businesses in the country who send along other photographers (usually not the person who’s work you have seen!) but we would never do that. My style is unique and cannot be replicated by anyone.

·    Do you do your own prints?
No. You will not get inkjet prints from us. We use one of the UK’s leading labs for all our printing, and our albums are sourced from some of the world’s leading suppliers.

·    Do You Have Insurance?
Yes, Personal Indemnity and Public Liability insurance. Many photographers do not have this.

·    Are you professionally qualified?
Yes, I am a qualified associate member of the  Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (ASWPP) and am an associate member of the British Instute of Professional Photographers (ABIPP). Associate is one of the top qualifications with only one level existing beyond that. This means I am very serious about keeping up to speed with what the latest trends are in photography and regularly attend courses and seminars to improve my skills. I continuously enter competitions and update qualifications so you can be sure I’m improving all the time and not standing still. I am a regular speaker at seminars by the SWPP, throughout Europe.

·    How soon after the wedding will we see our images?
We aim to have the proofs ready to ship once you return from honeymoon, but on average it is around 3-4 weeks. Others offer a fast turnaround, but we insist on working hard on the editing process to give you the best images possible.

·    How long does the album take?
Our albums are handmade and bespoke. They are made internationally by some of the best album suppliers around. Once we have your choices, we will design your draft album within 2 weeks, then once you approve the design we aim to have the finished album with you in one month.

·    Can we have the images on CD or USB?
Yes. Many photographers will not sell digital files, we  believe the modern couple should have their files if they want them. Most people are technically minded nowadays and want to upload images to social networking sites and print their own products. We are happy to sell a USB of the files and the prices are stated on the price lists.
