Belladrum 2019
A round up of my two days at Belladrum 2019
I was lucky enough to be asked to cover two days of Belladrum this year, and as a massive music fan, was delighted to get along and enjoy some of the bands, and the usual awesome Bella atmosphere.
It really is a great event, and if you have never been, you should certainly look into it. It’s very family friendly, and you will see almost as many children and teenagers as you will adults. An eclectic range of bands and musicians, with something for everyone. I have never been a festival fan, but Belladrum is a bit different.
As well as getting to see and photograph some great acts it was a great chance to catch up with friends I hadn’t seen for some time. The banter in the pit with the other photographers was, as ever, fantastic and made it more memorable.
Thursday was a bit dull, but fairly warm, and I mainly just stayed at the main Garden Stage, catching Luna The Professor, the awesome Torridon, who had the place bouncing, Dodgy, Tom Odell and Elbow.
On to Friday, and a stunning, day, which was too hot at times, and required a lot of Factor 80 on my white skin. I had a more relaxed day, shooting groups of people before catching some bands. Today I saw Royal Sounds, Elephant Sessions and Swim School, before being blown away by Bombskare. Not my usual choice of music styles, but they were fantastic and full of energy. The Hothouse Stage was mobbed and the place was bouncing. Then I caught Dodie, who I confess I hadn’t heard of, but she seemed to draw in a tonne of teenagers who knew every lyric. I then managed to get across to catch fellow Caithnesian The Vandal. He put on a great show full of his usual attitude and went down a storm.
Back to the main stages to catch my favourite act of the two days, the awesome Johnny Marr, and I was not disappointed. What a set. I then raced over to catch a bit of SOAK, before taking in a superb visual show from headliners Chvrches.
A superb couple of days, roll on next year!
