Chrissie & Rory – Wedding Photography Perth
“I wouldn’t want to be your photographer”. Apparently this was a line repeated often to Chrissie prior to her wedding. Being a very experienced model and keen photographer, her expectations for her wedding were always going to be high. How did I feel about this added pressure? Well I didn’t see it as extra pressure, but more of a compliment, and a confidence boost to be chosen over the hundreds of photographers in her contacts list. I’d known her for many years myself and was flattered that she chose me from the start to be her photographer. So, on to the big day. The venue was The Huntingtower Hotel in Perth, a venue I had visited several times but never for a wedding. I stayed there on the Thursday night so I was able to see everyone and relax in advance of the big day. We began in the morning with some nice relaxed preparation shots as June Long took care of all the make up for the girls. The ceremony was a romantic and moving one, with just the right mix of tears and laughter. We then did some photographs around the hotel grounds on a nice, albeit cold, March afternoon. The speeches and dance followed before I had to leave and head back up the A9 for a wedding the next day. What a fun day and nice to meet up with a lot of other photographers. A fantastic couple and I wish them all the best for the future.

What was your favourite moment of the day
There were so many “favourite” moments for different reasons. I loved that moment when the ceremony was over – when it was all official. I loved the speeches and was so proud that despite Rorys nerves he managed to get up there in front of all our nearest and dearest and said some beautiful words that touched all if our hearts.
Did you enjoy having your photographs taken?
I always enjoy having my pictures taken but it was even better on my wedding day because Rory was standing alongside me for a change!
What advice would you give to other brides planning their wedding?
I know many people say “plan plan plan” but in all honesty I got bored with the 13 month wait. I would read wedding forums and gasp at how long some brides “prepare” for their wedding.
I wish I had a shorter engagement – Less time to plan.
I would excitably tell my plans to friends/family and they would laugh at my suggestions or make unenthusiastic facial expressions so in the end I didn’t tell anybody what I was doing. I didn’t even show my bridesmaids what dresses I picked until a few weeks before the wedding (thankfully they loved them). I changed quite a lot of my plans when I realised I didn’t have a swimming pool of money to spend either.
Was there anything you’d have done differently
I probably wouldn’t have bought the first dress I tried on
I ended up buying another dress 2 months before the wedding because I fell in love with it! I may also have sorted out a cake slightly sooner – *Note – Its almost impossible to get a cake 2 weeks before your wedding if its on mothers day weekend* Thank GOD for Marks & Spencers
These are superb photos, a story told in a beautiful way.
