2013 With John Baikie Photography
Well, as another year draws to a close, it is time for a review of the year. It has been another epic year both business and personally, with lots of highs and lows. This year was definitely a harder year due to the financial climate and to a lesser extent the “2013” thing which saw a few people put their weddings off until next year. The first half of the year was very quiet for weddings, although from the end of June it was back to normal again, and delighted to say there’s a big increase for next year. The commercial side of the business picked up nicely and has been nice and steady throughout the year. The creative shoots have been limited a bit as I have been busy on other stuff but more recently I have been making more time for these and will continue to do so throughout next year. I’ve had some great training courses and one to one sessions wityh other photographers, as well as attending some good training days myself. I have slightly changed my style over the course of this year which has proved very popular with all my clients. Looking forward to bringing this to a higher level in the coming months. The year started with the Societies Convention in London in January, where I enjoyed presenting 3 masterclasses, met up with some friends, old and new, and came away with some merit awards from the big print competition. I will be back in just over two weeks time for the 2014 event and I am looking forward to presenting two talks this time around. Around this time I was chosen to take part in Strictly Inverness, which was one of the best experiences of my life. Four months of training and practicing before dancing in front of over 700 people, all for the amazing Highland Hospice charity. An experience I will never forget and which has helped me meet some amazing people and make great new friends.
Overall it has been a fantastic year, with many big changes in the business, which will hopefully help us go from strength to strength. Looking ofrward to another exciting and challenging year ahead. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of this year, be it clients, friends, colleagues or whatever. Thanks for your support, laughs and for helping push my creativity onwards and upwards.
I have put together a slideshow of some of my favourite wedding images of 2013. I will add another post with my favourite images from my other work later. Enjoy and put some comments at the bottom if you wish :)
