Fyvie Castle Wedding Photography – Linda and Paul

The first wedding of 2014 was a on beautiful day in January, and involved a drive across to Aberdeenshire. Linda and Paul were married at Fyvie Castle, and this was my first time shooting a wedding here. We started at Meldrum House for the preparations, before driving through to Fyvie for the ceremony. I couldn’t believe how good the weather was for January and it was great to get some time outside to do some photos although the cold wind meant we didn’t have long! It was such a fun day, really relaxed and lots of laughs. We went back to Meldrum House for the reception, some great speeches and then it was party time!

A little bit from the beautiful bride:

What was your favourite moment of the day?

‘’Although it was nerve racking, the excitement of walking down the aisle and meeting my husband to-be was overwhelming’’

‘’Paul and I had a wonderful time and it was great to share the day with all our family and friends plus the party at night was fantastic and the dance floor was never empty’’

What advice would you give to other brides planning their wedding?

Create an Excel spread sheet as soon as you start to plan your wedding.  This is important so you track what deposits have been sent out and who you still have to pay for.  We also tracked all our RSVPS on the sheet and overall cumulative costs against our budget.’’

‘’My husband Paul was also very hands on with the wedding planning so we each had individual tasks to do.’’

‘’There’s often a lot of pressure placed on a couple to invite for example,  family members you haven’t seen in years.  ‘Stick to your guns’ and invite who you both would like to be there to celebrate your big day.”

‘’Paul and I also thought it was important to put together an itinerary early on in the planning stage.  This was printed on the invitations so our guests knew the series of events throughout the day.  This ensured that guests weren’t hanging around too long and everyone knew what was happening.  As a result the day ran like clockwork!’’

Was there anything you’d have done differently?

‘’No, the day was perfect and we are still receiving comments from guests saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to.’’

And finally:

“Since the wedding was in January, we were nervous that the weather would turn.  We were actually very lucky that it was a crisp and sunny day and probably one of the best days we have had year to date.”
