Brothers Point, Skye – Proposal Photography

I have just got back after an amazing day on The Isle Of Skye. Once again, I was asked to capture a special moment on camera. Michael and Caitlin had travelled over from the USA for a holiday, and Michael had planned to propose to Caitlin during their trip.

I have just got back after an amazing day on The Isle Of Skye. Once again, I was asked to capture a special moment on camera. Michael and Caitlin had travelled over from the USA for a holiday, and Michael had planned to propose to Caitlin during their trip.

Michael contacted me a while back, and we discussed logistics and locations and he eventually picked Brothers Point. I’d never been, but it looked stunning, and the fact that dinosaur footprints were recently found there, only added to the magical feel in the air.

I’d seen a few blogs which said it was a really hard place to find, and quite a trek. It wasn’t. It was very easy to find, and although a wee bit of a walk, certainly nothing too energetic, although there were a few bits where you didn’t want to get too near the edge… I was a bit scared on more than one occasion.

So, first problem was, it’s a big area. Although we had roughly chosen the spot he would do the deed, I have to admit it wasn’t too obvious once I was there, so I was quite worried when I couldn’t see them approaching, due to the landscape. Then, when they were several hundred metres away, it looked like he was about to do it, and I was saying to myself “not now Michael, not now!” but no, they eventually arrived up top, and although not quite the exact spot I had lined up, the moment came, was captured, and she said yes!

I had goosebumps at that moment – no surprise there if you know me. We then shot a few images around the area, before heading back to the car park. It is such a privilege to be the only person in the world who witnessed this. The place was totally deserted apart from us. This is the reason I do my job. Being part of such important milestones in the lives of families. Being invited into the intimate and special moments like these.

Congratulations to Caitlin and Michael, and I hope you both enjoy the rest of your trip to Scotland, and good luck for the future! Oh, and thanks for having me there.

I need to return to this location when the light is a bit better for landscape photography as well, it is amazing.
