Isle of Wight Wedding Photography – Sarah and Bob

My first ‘overseas’ wedding of the year was a trip to the Isle of Wight for the wedding of Sarah Smith (from the island) and Bob Kerr (from Portskerra). It was my first time on the Isle of Wight and I was well impressed. What a cool place! I’d like to go back and explore a bit more some time. It was a bit of an epic journey to get there, flying Inverness to Manchester (in the middle of the night) then Manchester to Southampton, where Bob picked me up. After fitting an incredible amount of gear into a small car (to the extent that the car was so full I had to have my head out the window for the rest of the trip to make room for stuff…..) we got the ferry over to the island and then drove across to Niton, taking in some landmarks along the way. A fun day and evening meeting everyone followed, and then bedtime before the big day.

We were staying in cottages at St Catherines Lighthouse, which was just stunning. Sarah has a passion for lighhouses and this was the reason for the location, and this was the spot for the photography after the ceremony. The wedding was in the very quirky Enchanted Manor, in Niton, which was one of the most unusual places I’ve been in, but very cool! Sarah and the ladies got ready here, so after I had inadvertently tipped 400,000,000 pieces of confetti all over the carpet whilst trying to be discreet, we got some nice images of the preparations. The ceremony was very nice and outdoors in a great location, albeit tricky to get an angle for photographs. After drinks and canapes in the garden everybody headed to St Catherines Lighthouse where they had tours of it, and we took all the photographs, before heading up the road to the Buddle Inn for the reception. A fabulous dinner followed, and I was sitting next to a guy who had climbed Everest in the same party as Bob earlier that year. Mind boggling hearing all the stories, along with some really bad and really funny jokes. After the speeches and dance it was time to head back down the road and get some sleep for another epic journey home. Big thanks to Sarah and Bob for taking me such a distance to capture their special day, it was an absolute pleasure :) Hope to return to the Isle of Wight again soon.
