Wedding Photography Shieldaig & Achnagairn House, Jillian & Ruairidh
Jillian and Ruairidh had a slightly different format to their wedding, and it was a really cool one. They were married on the banks of Loch Shieldaig beside a fishermans bothy owned by Ruairidh’s family. I arrived up the evening before as it was an early start, due to the two parts to the day. The second part was to be at Achnagairn House, so the wedding needed to be early to allow for travel back to Kirkhill. I had a recce of the site when I arrived, as the light was fading and the midges were lurking in their numbers, and savaged me in my short visit! We started the wedding day at The Torridon Inn, where they were all getting ready. After some shots there we headed up to the wedding location. It was one of those days which could have gone badly wrong, weather-wise, but it was absolutely perfect. Blue skies and bright sunshine. If it had been a bad day the plans would have been torn up. The ceremony was beautiful, and must be one of the most picturesque spots I have shot a wedding ceremony at. Afterwards we did some photography on the shore and then set off to Achnagairn.
The couple arrived in style in a very cool 2 seater Caterham car, as the guests, who had been joined by everyone else, assembled on the lawn. We then had a photo session in the grounds of Achnagairn before heading back in for the speeches and meal.
It was a fabulous day, and certainly one of the coolest weddings I have done in a while.
