2016 A Review Of My Year

2016 A Review Of My Year

May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow

BIPP Scottish Region Awards

Yesterday I was in Glasgow, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, for the annual Scottish BIPP awards. It was a fun day, which started with the student awards, which were really amazing quality, and they had a great turn out on the day. We then had talks from the Judges Denise and Alan, before the AGM and buffet. Then it was awards time. I must admit, I didn’t expect to get anything this year, as I had (as usual) left my entries to the very last minute, and couldn’t even remember what…

Wedding Album or Disc?

Wedding Album or Disc?

So in this day of digital domination, what are people buying? Is the shoot and burn style here to stay, or is there still life in the album or printed products? Obviously like any other market there are different priorities but lets look at the case for the good old fashioned printed product, or as I prefer to see them – family heirlooms. Recently I had an urge to have a look through some old photographs. It was Christmas time and being the time for sentimentality, the coversation went on…

Commercial Photographer Inverness – Bygone Drives shoot, Aldourie Castle.

I was recently commissioned to shoot some publicity and marketing photographs for local car firm Bygone Drives. The shoot took place at the amazing Aldourie Castle, on the banks of Loch Ness. Dress to Impress in Inverness provided wedding dresses for the models, Mairi, Amy and Sophie, and we also had some hats and capes from K’outure The weather was really grim and it rained heavily most of the day, however we managed to get what we were after. Commercial Photography – Nessie 80th Anniversary

THERE’S (STILL) SOMETHING IN THE WATER… 80th anniversary of first Nessie sighting One of the world’s greatest and most enduring mysteries was celebrated when a special boat trip marked the 80th anniversary of the first modern sighting of the Loch Ness Monster. On 14 April 1933, Mrs Aldie Mackay, manageress of the Drumnadrochit Hotel, spoke of seeing a “whale-like fish” in the loch. Alex Campbell, a water bailiff and part-time journalist, recorded the sighting in the Inverness Courier, under the headline: “Strange Spectacle in Loch Ness”. Exactly eight decades on…
