2016 A Review Of My Year

2016 A Review Of My Year

May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow

Ness Castle Lodges wedding photography – Melanie and Chris

Ness Castle Lodges wedding photography – Melanie and Chris

This was areturn to another of my favourite location, Ness Castle Lodges, on the banks of the River Ness. I love shooting weddings here as it is such a gorgeous location, and Laura and the staff there are so brilliant to work alongside. Melanie and Chris had travelled from Englandshire to this amazing venue for their wedding, and they brought some great weather with them. It certainly didn’t feel like February outside. We started with the usual fun getting ready pictures in Ghillies Lodge, before the small ceremony in River…

2013 With John Baikie Photography

2013 With John Baikie Photography

Well, as another year draws to a close, it is time for a review of the year. It has been another epic year both business and personally, with lots of highs and lows. This year was definitely a harder year due to the financial climate and to a lesser extent the “2013” thing which saw a few people put their weddings off until next year. The first half of the year was very quiet for weddings, although from the end of June it was back to normal again, and delighted…

Wedding Photography Inverness, Tina and Jamie, Achnagairn House.

My last wedding of 2013, was at my local venue, and one of my favourites, Achnagairn House, in Kirkhill. The couple are from Golspie but chose the magnificent Achnagairn for their big day. The day began with Tina and the bridesmaids getting ready at the house, while Jamie, despite loving the camera, did his best to avoid it. It was a really relaxed morning and a lot of fun. We then had a lovely humanist ceremony conducted by Jackie Goode, before heading outside to make the best of the autumn…

Loch Lomond Wedding Photography, Emma and Clive at Loch Lomond Golf Club

Loch Lomond Wedding Photography, Emma and Clive at Loch Lomond Golf Club

Emma and Clive had chosen one of my favourite places in Scotland for their wedding – Loch Lomond. They were based at Loch Lomond Golf Club, where I’ve been a few times before and absolutely love! Emma and Clive got ready at the Golf Club, which is where we started. It was a pretty awful day of rain and quite dark, so the plans we had made were not looking too promising. The wedding itself was taking place at Luss Church, which is a lovely old church. So once all…

Isle of Wight Wedding Photography – Sarah and Bob

Isle of Wight Wedding Photography – Sarah and Bob

My first ‘overseas’ wedding of the year was a trip to the Isle of Wight for the wedding of Sarah Smith (from the island) and Bob Kerr (from Portskerra). It was my first time on the Isle of Wight and I was well impressed. What a cool place! I’d like to go back and explore a bit more some time. It was a bit of an epic journey to get there, flying Inverness to Manchester (in the middle of the night) then Manchester to Southampton, where Bob picked me up….

Equestrian Photography Inverness – Kessock Equine Vets

I was recently commissioned by Horse and Rider magazine to do some pictures for a feature on Keith Chandler of Kessock Equine Vets. Keith  is the current Petplan Equine Vet of the Year. It was great photographing him at work with a couple of beautiful horses.

New Website Goes Live

New Website Goes Live

Due to some big changes in the way the business operates, two new websites are being built at the moment. We are in the process of rebuilding the Captiv8 one which will house all non-wedding photography work, while the John Baikie Photography one has gone live again with all the information you need about wedding photography. If you want any of our other specialist services please get in touch, and the website will go live soon!

Wedding Photography Glasgow – Lisa Hogg and Michael Gardyne

Wedding Photography Glasgow – Lisa Hogg and Michael Gardyne

I travelled to Glasgow to photograph the wedding of Lisa Hogg and Michael Gardyne and this was a fantastic day. I love shooting weddings and fashion in Glasgow as the architecture is so good around the city centre. Unfortunately the rain put paid to most of the locations I had chosen the night before. The wedding was at 29 Royal Exchange Square, a venue I had shot at before, and a great wedding location. Lisa was getting her make up done with the bridesmaids when we arrived, and I immediately…

Pre wedding shoot Dores Beach – Lisa Hogg & Michael Gardyne

Pre wedding shoot Dores Beach – Lisa Hogg & Michael Gardyne

After a double header of weddings, it was on to Dores beach on the Sunday for Lisa Hogg and Michael Gardyne’s pre wedding shoot. It was a scorcher of a day – too sunny for me as always…but we had a great time and came away with some nice images.
