May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow
What a fab day we got for Eilidh Sutherland and George Jones’s wedding up in Sutherland. An absolute scorcher of a day, bright sunshine, blue skies and even I wasn’t complaining. Eilidh started at her dads house in Golspie for the getting ready stage and we had some great laughs there, and even had a bride posing on her dads motorbike in dressing gown :) We then moved to Dornoch Cathedral for the ceremony, which as always was fantastic. The Rev Susan Brown is just brilliant to work with, and…
Alison and damian came up to Beauly for their pre wedding shoot recently and we had some fun around the old Priory on a very sunny but cold afternoon. The couple get married this summer and I can’t wait to be part of it :)
Natalie Rattray and Colin Bradley chose the unusual but very cool venue of Eden Court Theatre Chapel for their wedding. Until then I didn’t even know there was a chapel in Eden Court! What a cool venue though. Beautiful old building. Amazing wee chapel, gorgeous staircase, and lots of funky stuff nearby to use for photography. Natalie and her bridesmaids and wee flower girl (who ended up being my assistant for the day voluntarily) got ready at the Columba Hotel before heading round the corner to the theatre. There was…
Michelle Christie and Craig Anderson get married in July. They chose Dunrobin Castle for their pre wedding shoot. The pre wedding shoot is a great way to get used to the camera and get a feel for what it will be like on the day. Usually great fun – although it absolutely bucketed down this day!
After a double header of weddings, it was on to Dores beach on the Sunday for Lisa Hogg and Michael Gardyne’s pre wedding shoot. It was a scorcher of a day – too sunny for me as always…but we had a great time and came away with some nice images.
Donna Fleider and Andy Ross get married this summer, and chose Fort George for their pre wedding shoot. It was a cold day but we managed to get enough time in between rain showers to get some cool pictures around the Fort, before we headed off and did a few shots at a friends farm in the hay and I even found an old truck to use, so was in my element.
So it was second time lucky for this shoot, after the weather wrecked our plans the first time we planned it. Ardvreck Castle is a very cool ruined castle on the shore of Loch Assynt, up near Lochinver. Anna and Fraser were getting married later in the month so we were running out of dates for this shoot. The forecast was nice, but when I arrived up there it was absolutely baltic and there was a light shower of hailstones. This was not going to be a long shoot!
When Debbie Denoon and Gary Weir booked me for their 2012 wedding, it then turned out that Debbie was going to be a bridesmaid at Alisha and Scott’s wedding in Phuket so we decided to set aside some time to do their pre wedding shoot over there on the beach. So on the Friday afternoon we headed down to Kata Beach in the hope of a nice sunset, but it was a very overcast day so we never got lucky on that score. However we did have some fun and…
I travelled up to Kinlochbervie, on the West Coast for Louise Hay and Adrian McBain’s pre wedding shoot. The couple get married in September, and we shot at Oldshoremore Beach, which was where Adrian proposed. It was an absolute scorcher of a day, which, as everyone knows, is not ideal for me, but we had fun and got some nice images. It’s a beautiful beach, first time I’d been there.
