2016 A Review Of My Year

2016 A Review Of My Year

May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow

2013 With John Baikie Photography

Well, as another year draws to a close, it is time for a review of the year. It has been another epic year both business and personally, with lots of highs and lows. This year was definitely a harder year due to the financial climate and to a lesser extent the “2013” thing which saw a few people put their weddings off until next year. The first half of the year was very quiet for weddings, although from the end of June it was back to normal again, and delighted…

Wedding Photography Dornoch Cathedral – Eilidh & George

What a fab day we got for Eilidh Sutherland and George Jones’s wedding up in Sutherland. An absolute scorcher of a day, bright sunshine, blue skies and even I wasn’t complaining. Eilidh started at her dads house in Golspie for the getting ready stage and we had some great laughs there, and even had a bride posing on her dads motorbike in dressing gown :) We then moved to Dornoch Cathedral for the ceremony, which as always was fantastic. The Rev Susan Brown is just brilliant to work with, and…

Wedding Photography Aviemore, Stephanie and Scott

An amazingly sunny but wintry day for this wedding. Stephanie Mackay and Scott Wilde got married at Macdonalds Highland Resort in Aviemore, but the day began in Invergordon where the couple were both getting ready before making the trip down the A9. I started at Scott’s mum’s house with the guys and the banter there was brilliant. I then went to Steph’s grans house where the girls were getting ready. It was a fun day, and it was great to be able to get a brief shoot at Loch Morlich…

Engagement Photography/Pre Wedding Shoot Damian and Alison at Beauly

Alison and damian came up to Beauly for their pre wedding shoot recently and we had some fun around the old Priory on a very sunny but cold afternoon. The couple get married this summer and I can’t wait to be part of it :)

Dunrobin Castle – Pre wedding shoot. Michelle & Craig

Michelle Christie and Craig Anderson get married in July. They chose Dunrobin Castle for their pre wedding shoot. The pre wedding shoot is a great way to get used to the camera and get a feel for what it will be like on the day. Usually great fun – although it absolutely bucketed down this day!

Pre wedding shoot Dores Beach – Lisa Hogg & Michael Gardyne

After a double header of weddings, it was on to Dores beach on the Sunday for Lisa Hogg and Michael Gardyne’s pre wedding shoot. It was a scorcher of a day – too sunny for me as always…but we had a great time and came away with some nice images.

Engagement Photography Inverness – Fort George shoot

Donna Fleider and Andy Ross get married this summer, and chose Fort George for their pre wedding shoot. It was a cold day but we managed to get enough time in between rain showers to get some cool pictures around the Fort, before we headed off and did a few shots at a friends farm in the hay and I even found an old truck to use, so was in my element.

Pre Wedding Shoot Ardvreck Castle – Anna and Fraser

Pre Wedding Shoot Ardvreck Castle – Anna and Fraser

So it was second time lucky for this shoot, after the weather wrecked our plans the first time we planned it. Ardvreck Castle is a very cool ruined castle on the shore of Loch Assynt, up near Lochinver. Anna and Fraser were getting married later in the month so we were running out of dates for this shoot. The forecast was nice, but when I arrived up there it was absolutely baltic and there was a light shower of hailstones. This was not going to be a long shoot!

Glenmorangie House Wedding Photography – Lianne & Garry

Lianne McKinlay and Garry McLennan were married at Glenmorangie House, which is north of Inverness, not far from Tain. This was a wedding I’d been looking forward to ever since Lianne first spoke to me back in May 2010 about it. Over the 14 months in between we had become friends and had done a few different shoots, from birthday parties to pre wedding shoots, and I knew I was going to have a great day with them. Lianne’s family also have The Flower Shop in Tain, so I’d worked…
