Engagement Photography Inverness – Fort George shoot

Donna Fleider and Andy Ross get married this summer, and chose Fort George for their pre wedding shoot. It was a cold day but we managed to get enough time in between rain showers to get some cool pictures around the Fort, before we headed off and did a few shots at a friends farm in the hay and I even found an old truck to use, so was in my element.

Pre Wedding Shoot Ardvreck Castle – Anna and Fraser

So it was second time lucky for this shoot, after the weather wrecked our plans the first time we planned it. Ardvreck Castle is a very cool ruined castle on the shore of Loch Assynt, up near Lochinver. Anna and Fraser were getting married later in the month so we were running out of dates for this shoot. The forecast was nice, but when I arrived up there it was absolutely baltic and there was a light shower of hailstones. This was not going to be a long shoot!

Glenmorangie House Wedding Photography – Lianne & Garry

Lianne McKinlay and Garry McLennan were married at Glenmorangie House, which is north of Inverness, not far from Tain. This was a wedding I’d been looking forward to ever since Lianne first spoke to me back in May 2010 about it. Over the 14 months in between we had become friends and had done a few different shoots, from birthday parties to pre wedding shoots, and I knew I was going to have a great day with them. Lianne’s family also have The Flower Shop in Tain, so I’d worked with them on a number of weddings as well.

The wedding was at Glenmorangie House, where I’d never shot a wedding before, but I’d checked it out a few months previously at Lianne’s mum’s birthday lunch so I knew there was great potential there. The day began at Lianne’s parents house in Tain, where the girls were getting hair and make up done. Make up was by Dawn from Aspen Spa, another familiar face. Dawn had an easy job, as Lianne was a stunning bride, and I was looking forward to getting some awesome pics later.

I then left to head to Glenmorangie House, where I did some cool shots with garry and the rest of the guys. The ceremony was a humanist one, which is always full of fun and emotion and this was no exception. After the ceremony we shot loads of stuff around the grounds, and then managed to find a great barley field which worked out perfect. One of the images from the barley field also won a merit award at the recent Master Photographers Association UK awards, which was really cool! It was a shot of Lianne in the barley.

We then had a lovely meal, before the dance started with music by The Jacks – so even more well known faces. Add to that Colin from Video Viewpoint, and it was a real old friends together kind of day!

It was a lovely day, and one I thoroughly enjoyed being part of.  Looking forward to a post wedding shoot soon!

Catriona & Rupert. Engagement Photography Inverness

I recently did some engagement or pre wedding photography with Catriona MacAffer and Ruper Anderson. I am doing their wedding photography in Inverness this weekend. We went to Rosemarkie and had some fun with their dog as well. It was a bit too sunny for my liking, but we got some great results.

Engagement Photography Scotland, Golspie

I went to Big Burn, Golspie on Saturday for an engagement photography session with Shelly and Ewan, who get married in July this year, for their pre wedding shoot. A beautiful day meant we went ahead at the second attempt after having to postpone the previous Sunday due to snow and rain. It was a great location to shoot at and we were joined by Barney, the Springer who wasn’t really in the mood to model but had a lot of fun anyway!

Engagement Photography Thurso

At the weekend I had a pre wedding shoot with Vikki Lorimer and Lee Allan, at a derelict farm building, which was lots of fun. Pre wedding shoots are ideal for getting used to the camera and getting to know how I work. The couple get married in Thurso in August this year.

Elise & David Pre wedding shoot

I recently did a pre wedding shoot in Inverness with Elise Clayton and David McDonald. The couple are from Glasgow, but are getting married at Bunchrew House next month. David was in Inverness through his work and was involved in a music festival at Eden Court Theatre. That seemed like the perfect place to do the shoot, and it was a lot of fun as the building has such a contrast between traditional stone and very modern architecture.

Kimberley & Graeme Pre wedding shoot, Loch Ness

Last night I did a pre wedding shoot at Lochend, Loch Ness with Kimberley De Koning and Graeme Watson, who are getting married at Achnagairn next month. This was to be the shortest pre wedding shoot ever, partly as a result of the masses of midges, and partly due to us deciding it was a good idea to do some pictures IN Loch Ness.  Sometimes you just have to push yourself a little further to get the right shot, and I am a great believer in ‘you get out of a shoot what you put into it’. So with that in mind, I joined the brave couple in the water, which actually wasn’t that cold (not sure Kimberley agrees). Between the venturing into the water, and some amazing weather and lighting, we got some great images without spending too much time there.

The down side to being adventurous, was that I didn’t have a spare pair of jeans to change into so had to borrow a pair of shorts from Graeme. Now shorts they may well be to Graeme, but Graeme is 6’4″ or something so they were sort of 3/4 length trousers on me, and I guess I looked like a clown. I almost wish I’d let them take the photo they threatened to!

Here’s a few shots – I definitely feel it was worth the effort! Thanks to Kimberley & Graeme for being brave!

Cara & Mike Pre Wedding Shoot, Ardvreck Castle

Last weekend I travelled to Ardvreck Castle on the banks of Loch Assynt, for a pre wedding shoot with Cara Moore and Mike Henderson, who are getting married at the end of September. It’s a location I’ve wanted to shoot at for a while so I was delighted when Cara and Mike agreed. It was a decent day up there, despite several rainshowers on the way. However the midges got me again. There were huge swarms of them and I got savaged by them as usual! I seem to have developed a real allergy to their bites over the last few years and now they make me unwell. I think I may need to emigrate!

Anyway, a few shots from Ardvreck – really looking forward to their wedding!

Pre Wedding Shoot Lynn & Martin

Today I was at Sandside Harbour with Lynn Day and Martin Doak, who get married in September. This was their pre wedding shoot, which is a great way to get used to the idea of being in front of the camera. We had lots of fun and got some cool images in a short time. It’s a great location, and we never saw anything glowing with radioactivity either which was a bonus:-)
