2016 A Review Of My Year

2016 A Review Of My Year

May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow

BIPP Scottish Region Awards

Yesterday I was in Glasgow, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, for the annual Scottish BIPP awards. It was a fun day, which started with the student awards, which were really amazing quality, and they had a great turn out on the day. We then had talks from the Judges Denise and Alan, before the AGM and buffet. Then it was awards time. I must admit, I didn’t expect to get anything this year, as I had (as usual) left my entries to the very last minute, and couldn’t even remember what…

2015 Comes To An End – Photographic and Personal Highlights

Well, that’s another year completed. It has been quite a year, on a photographic and personal level, there were some pretty epic times. Numerous weddings throughout Scotland and many commercial shoots, a photographic trip to Gambia, two live wedding proposals, tonnes of charity work, 4500 miles on a bicycle, and much more. I hope to go through some of the best bits here, so here goes!

Eilean Donan Castle Wedding Photography – Tanya and Jose

Eilean Donan Castle Wedding Photography – Tanya and Jose

Well, every wedding is amazing, and they all have their own little sub-plots which make them individual. This one was no different. Jose and Tanya were over from Ontario, Canada for this one. And what a day it turned out to be. This was already different to what is considered ‘the norm’ for weddings, in that, for a change Jose was doing all the planning. It was unusual, but after meeting him, it all made perfect sense. here was a guy, deeply in love, who wanted to make this day…

Wedding Photography Alness – Lisa & William

Another great day – this time it was Lisa and William’s big day. The day began with a visit to Lisa’s for the getting ready shots amidst the chaos. The wedding itself was in the Kingdom Hall, Alness, and was my first time in this venue. It was always going to be a good day when you turn up at church and the guys are decked out in a nice tartan….see the photos for more information :) After the ceremony we headed to Teaninich Castle for the photography session, which…

2013 With John Baikie Photography

2013 With John Baikie Photography

Well, as another year draws to a close, it is time for a review of the year. It has been another epic year both business and personally, with lots of highs and lows. This year was definitely a harder year due to the financial climate and to a lesser extent the “2013” thing which saw a few people put their weddings off until next year. The first half of the year was very quiet for weddings, although from the end of June it was back to normal again, and delighted…

Wedding Photography Inverness, Tina and Jamie, Achnagairn House.

My last wedding of 2013, was at my local venue, and one of my favourites, Achnagairn House, in Kirkhill. The couple are from Golspie but chose the magnificent Achnagairn for their big day. The day began with Tina and the bridesmaids getting ready at the house, while Jamie, despite loving the camera, did his best to avoid it. It was a really relaxed morning and a lot of fun. We then had a lovely humanist ceremony conducted by Jackie Goode, before heading outside to make the best of the autumn…

Wedding Photography Inverness- Sam and Steven, Drumossie Hotel

After a run of weddings away from home, it was nice to be back in Inverness for Sam and Steven’s wedding. The couple had chosen the Drumossie Hotel for their wedding, a place I regularly shoot at and really enjoy. I started off at Hair Vision where Sam and the girls were having hair and make up done. The banter there was a good indication of how the day was going to go. Michaela and her ‘selfies’ and Carlie’s shoes….. Hilarious stuff! We then went over to Sam’s mums house…

Loch Lomond Wedding Photography, Emma and Clive at Loch Lomond Golf Club

Loch Lomond Wedding Photography, Emma and Clive at Loch Lomond Golf Club

Emma and Clive had chosen one of my favourite places in Scotland for their wedding – Loch Lomond. They were based at Loch Lomond Golf Club, where I’ve been a few times before and absolutely love! Emma and Clive got ready at the Golf Club, which is where we started. It was a pretty awful day of rain and quite dark, so the plans we had made were not looking too promising. The wedding itself was taking place at Luss Church, which is a lovely old church. So once all…
