2016 A Review Of My Year

2016 A Review Of My Year

May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow

Engagement Photography Eilean Donan Castle

A few months ago I received an email from Santiago in Madrid, Spain, who was planning his holiday to Scotland with his girlfriend Veronica. He had decided he was going to propose to her on the holiday and felt that having a photographer there to capture the moment would be a great way to remember it. After much emailing, we came up with a plan and a location at Eilean Donan Castle, the iconic Scottish Castle on the West Coast of Scotland. We exchanged photographs, so we knew who we…

2015 Comes To An End – Photographic and Personal Highlights

Well, that’s another year completed. It has been quite a year, on a photographic and personal level, there were some pretty epic times. Numerous weddings throughout Scotland and many commercial shoots, a photographic trip to Gambia, two live wedding proposals, tonnes of charity work, 4500 miles on a bicycle, and much more. I hope to go through some of the best bits here, so here goes!

Skibo Castle Wedding Photography

Skibo Castle Wedding Photography

The beautiful Skibo Castle was the venue for the wedding of Louise and Yves. The couple had travelled over from Switzerland for the special day. A beautiful service, conducted by Susan Brown was the highlight of the day. I will let the photos tell the story of this one.

Fiona and Ross had chosen Kilmuir and Logie Easter Church for their wedding ceremony, with the reception being held at Kincraig Castle Hotel, Invergordon. We started the day at Kincraig, where everyone was getting ready. It was a nice day for November, although a bit cold and windy, but the autumn colours looked great. After a nice ceremony, we had some fun shooting around the church grounds before heading back to Kincraig for the rest of the photos. A great day – here are a few photos.

Anne and Roy – Culloden House Hotel Wedding Photography

Culloden House Hotel, Inverness was the venue for the wedding of Thurso couple Anne and Roy. I love Culloden House for weddings, but it always looks it’s best in Autumn with the red leaves on the house really standing out. I had known Anne and her family for many years, as well as many of the guests, so this really was a pleasure to shoot. I love Caithness weddings, even when they are not in Caithness. It’s always good catching up with people I know. The ceremony was a fun…

Autumn and Winter Wedding Tips

Autumn and Winter Wedding Tips

Long gone are the days of wedding season running from May to September. The modern wedding market is spread out across the entire year and in all seasons. The availability of a wider range of venues, the more open approach to timings, varied pricing as well as availability of venues and suppliers, and a variety of other factors all contribute to this. From a photography point of view, it is a great thing, as it makes the weddng season last longer, and avoids the pressure of trying to cram all…

Achnagairn Wedding Photography – Donna and Allan

A local wedding for me again at the stunning Achnagairn along the road from me. Donna and Allan are from Caithness but chose to get married at this awesome venue. The day started for me with the guys doing some clay pigeon shooting in the gardens before heading upstairs to get some shots of the girls getting make up and hair done. We then had a lovely outdoor ceremony in the sunshine. The photo session in the grounds was great fun, before we had some emotional speeches, followed by the…

Innes House Elgin Wedding Photography – Laura and Craig

Laura and Craig were married at the stunning Innes House, Elgin. It was a busy day this one, starting in Nairn for hair and make up, before we headed to the Ramnee, Forres for getting ready pictures. Then we all headed to Innes House, where the rain was absolutely lashing down. After a lovely ceremony we hit it lucky and managed to get a break in the weather to go out for some photos, before going back for speeches and the dance.

Erchless Castle Wedding Photography – Genevieve and John

Genevieve Sparling and John Chisholm chose this quiet, intimate Scottish Highland location for their wedding. I have to admit I never even knew there was a castle there, despite it being fairly close to home, and on a road I cycle often. It’s a lovely 16th century castle, and just an ideal location for a wedding. I met the couple a day beforehand as they were over with their families and friends from California. The ceremony was at Struy Church and apparently the first wedding they’d had there for many…
