2016 A Review Of My Year

2016 A Review Of My Year

May turned out to be a great month, because as well as the cycling events, I had a huge success in the BIPP Scottish Regional Awards. It was definitely worth a trip to Glasgow

BIPP Scottish Region Awards

Yesterday I was in Glasgow, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, for the annual Scottish BIPP awards. It was a fun day, which started with the student awards, which were really amazing quality, and they had a great turn out on the day. We then had talks from the Judges Denise and Alan, before the AGM and buffet. Then it was awards time. I must admit, I didn’t expect to get anything this year, as I had (as usual) left my entries to the very last minute, and couldn’t even remember what…

2013 With John Baikie Photography

Well, as another year draws to a close, it is time for a review of the year. It has been another epic year both business and personally, with lots of highs and lows. This year was definitely a harder year due to the financial climate and to a lesser extent the “2013” thing which saw a few people put their weddings off until next year. The first half of the year was very quiet for weddings, although from the end of June it was back to normal again, and delighted…

Wedding Photography Inverness- Sam and Steven, Drumossie Hotel

After a run of weddings away from home, it was nice to be back in Inverness for Sam and Steven’s wedding. The couple had chosen the Drumossie Hotel for their wedding, a place I regularly shoot at and really enjoy. I started off at Hair Vision where Sam and the girls were having hair and make up done. The banter there was a good indication of how the day was going to go. Michaela and her ‘selfies’ and Carlie’s shoes….. Hilarious stuff! We then went over to Sam’s mums house…

Commercial Photography – Nessie 80th Anniversary

THERE’S (STILL) SOMETHING IN THE WATER… 80th anniversary of first Nessie sighting One of the world’s greatest and most enduring mysteries was celebrated when a special boat trip marked the 80th anniversary of the first modern sighting of the Loch Ness Monster. On 14 April 1933, Mrs Aldie Mackay, manageress of the Drumnadrochit Hotel, spoke of seeing a “whale-like fish” in the loch. Alex Campbell, a water bailiff and part-time journalist, recorded the sighting in the Inverness Courier, under the headline: “Strange Spectacle in Loch Ness”. Exactly eight decades on…
